What You Missed at Blockchain Week 2024: Full Recap

Crypto is mostly associated with the digital realm, but with so many major institutions and trendy startups now occupying the space, the physical aspect of digital assets conferences and parties is becoming an increasingly important part of the scene.

Blockchain Week 2024: The Digital Convergence was a big one, taking place from June 11 – 14th 2024 and with events taking place throughout Sydney all week. Grineo gave away free tickets to members of our Discord; become a member to take advantage of future giveaways!

Immutable kept the vibes going with a DJ on the decks at a branded booth as the crowd danced and watched the sun set.

It wasn’t all partying, as Blockchain Week pointed out. But even the promo video featured dancers outfitted with full LED costumes, setting the scene for an event that mixed business and fun!

Who Was There?

The event featured speakers from Mastercard, Independent Reserve, Fireblocks, Crypto.com, and many more.

Grineo was, of course, in attendance!

The conference saw a wide range of talks from many different speakers among other types of fun events.

Event Highlights

The week kicked off with an in-person conference and lunch with topics ranging from real-world use cases of blockchain technology, different types of tech stacks, digital currency ecosystems, and much more. Day 2 saw talks on compliance and regulation, a hot topic in Australia’s current crypto space.

Sydney’s Doltone House Hyde Park hosted the formal gala for Blockchain Week this year, with attendees from throughout Australia’s blockchain and crypto space in attendance. On day 3, attendees got together for the famous Digital Assets Breakfast followed by an audience-led Q&A session.

Day 4 saw an event led by women in blockchain as well as Confessions of a Bitcoin Startup, followed, of course, by the event afterparty!

Blockchain Australia Gets a Makeover – Meet the Digital Economy Council of Australia

Blockchain Australia is rebranding to the Digital Economy Council of Australia to include a banking category as well as inclusion for digital ID companies, AI, charity groups, and more. “Blockchain and digital assets still remain at the core of what the organization is promoting and advocating for,” states a representative from the digital economy group.

The rebrand comes under the leadership of new CEO Amy-Rose Goodey who recently stepped up to head the group. Rose-Goodey highlighted the need for clear regulation after multiple Australian banks blocked crypto exchanges from their services, stating that a proper regulatory framework will bring confidence to the market.
